Yesterday we left for Costa Rica we got through security with no problems and waited at DTW for three hours our arrival in Dallas was on time and the airport was cool and new. We had a six hour lay over and decided to explore all the terminals via the sky tram it was really nice with a lot of cool restaurants and things to do we ate quesadillas at this Tequila place which were very good.
I then started reading one of mikes books called Z for Zachariah I finished on our flight. I've forgotten how much I love flying and reading.... We got dinner on the flight It was salty; beef and mashed potatoes. We got through immigracion y aduana with no problems and met mikes uncle jim outside.
He drove us through San jose to his condo. The roads in San jose as well as the drivers are crazy; a lot of people out partyin and hooliganing at night.
We got back after every one was I'm bed and has these plantain/bean things and a beer with Jim. I slept on a great air mattress. Woke up to the kids voices. They are awesome. Matthias is five and Sophia is two and a half. They are so talkative and funny. Gloriana is mikes aunt. She is native costa rican and very nice.
We traveled early (well 9am is late in Costa Rica) to Punta Leona where they borrow a beach house. (also beautiful) the drive here was incredible. Some of the views were unbelievable. The mountains covered in life, trees, flowers, cattle, roadside merchants and dogs. Also, we stopped at this bridge over a ton of cocodrilos. Holy shit those things are huge.
One view down the road in Punta Leona
The beach is great; water like a bath, except there are no manta rays or crabs to pinch your feet in a bath. We did not see any Rays but the latter was a surprise. We played with Matty in the pool and played volleyball and pool. It is perfect weather. Tonight we are going back to the disco to see some live music and some cerveza.
We went to mass at five a la iglesia aqui. Most of what the Priest was talking about was over m y head, a few of the songs and other speakers i could kind of understand..but I liked it anyway...which is more than I can say for church at home.
For lunch we had bean tortillas y guavitas y tomates. Dinner was a spinach and corn lasagna con pinas, guavitas y helado.
La gente aqui son muy generosa y amable. Quiero practicar mi espanol mas ahora. Posiblemente unas cervezas podrán ayudarme. Either way, me encanta costa rica en este momento.
(these bilingual kids are hilarious)
We had some of the local beer tonight. El imperial. It wasn't that good in cans, but the bottles were actually quite delicious.
So there tend to be some nice sunsets...
We also had two long islands each for only 2000 colones which is like four bucks per drink. The musician was a pretty good guitarrista and singer pero yo y miguel no fuimos impresionados con el talento. Despues del concierto, en el discoteque, nosotros bailamos en el piso por el durante del noche. The girls here dance very well but mike looks like a bad Michael Jackson impersonator when he moonwalks around. It was fun, there were a decent amount of people there. Goodnight.
I've never actually slept in a bed this big
We are looking forward to the sun and playa blanca y jaco mañana.
For the record mike puked the first night... after drinking the same amount as me minus the half of his second long island he poured into mine. Oh yeah and he's calling me a Puss Maguss.
Paz.
